Metroland
Lidoran Architectural Roofing has recently finished a 20,000m project in Wetherill Park. The project was to install new metal roofing and cladding for Metroland – a new shopping centre.

The roof wasn’t without its challenges, firstly being the energy rating that needed to be achieved in accordance with Section J of the BCA. Finally through some smart research a foil laminated bubble wrap was sourced from Israel that fitted the criteria
With the insulation challenge handled, the next issue was how to get 56 metre sheets onto the roof. Working with Lysaghts we were able to utilize their onsite rolling machine.

The advantage being that the rolling machine is on hydraulic rams, so the roof sheet is able to be manufactured rolled out directly onto the roof. This saved in crane costs, which will always put a smile on the face of the client.

With all the materials on the roof the task now was to lay sheets. Quite a feat considering their length, each sheet needed to be carried by 7 or 8 men (depending on the men). The roof went down at good rate about 1,500m a day resulting in the client being very pleased with the speed of the tradesmen.

Next came the wall cladding which was installed using elevated work platforms. Once the roof was completed aluminium walkways were installed to access the plant equipment on the roof. Finally a nice 400mm deep, curved box gutter was installed with careful measurements so that it fitted like a glove.

The project was carried out with effective planning and co-ordination resulting in the job running smoothly for both sides. Once again Lidoran Architectural roofing had very happy client.
